Brad Selwood's coaching career spanned twenty-three seasons,
most currently with the Newmarket Hurricanes. The 2003-2004
season was his fourth season behind the bench of the Hurricanes.
He has coached in a variety of leagues and brings a tremendous
amount of dedication and discipline to the program.
Mr. Selwood began his coaching career as a player/coach
of the Houston Apollos of the original Central Hockey League
in 1980-81. The following season he held the same role,
this time with the New Haven Nighthawks, the Los Angeles
Kings top minor pro and American Hockey League affiliate.
On January 11, 1982, Selwood was promoted to the Los Angeles
Kings. He remained with the Kings for two seasons.
He returned to his native Ontario and became involved with
the Markham Islanders, then of the Metropolitan Toronto
Hockey League. He spent a decade in that organization. In
1993-94, Selwood accepted the dual role of General Manager
and Head Coach with the Thornhill Islanders Junior 'A' squad.
After three seasons, he moved west in 1996-97 to take the
helm of the OHL's London Knights. The following year, he
spent the first of three seasons with the Aurora Tigers,
where he held the roles of General Manager and Head Coach.
