Day Two of the Generals Training Camp saw the Generals hit the ice for the first time, split into three teams for intersquad scrimmages.
In game one, Team Red took on Team White in a tightly contested match-up which was won 2-0 by Team Red. Daniel Pachis had the game winner on an assist from Free Agent player Roger Sherwood in the first period. Generals 2nd round pick Mark Petaccio added an empty net goal with one minute left in the game.
Team Red Goalie Kevin Bailie made 30 saves in a shutout effort, while Michael Zador allowed one goal on 17 shots for Team White.
The second game saw Team Red claim victory again as they defeated Team Blue 3-2 in a shootout. Christian Thomas opened up the scoring for Team Red in the first period. Free Agent Scott Sabourin tied the game for Team Blue in the second period on a goal assisted by Generals returning forward JP Labardo.
Sabourin then returned the favour by setting up Labardo with his first goal of the camp. That lead was short lived as with a little over two minutes left 5th round pick in 2009 Brent Norris scored the game tying goal on an assist from Tony DeHart.
After a five minute overtime solved nothing, the shootout saw goals by Christian Thomas and Tony DeHart to claim victory for Team Red.
Generals former 14th round pick in 2009 Santo Provenzano got the victory in net making 23 saves while 10th round pick from 2010 Bo Bessette had an impressive performance making 23 saves.
In the third and final game of the day Team White notched their first victory by defeating Team Blue 3-1. Team White had goals by Alain Berger, Victor Terreri and 12th round draft pick Jacob Hand. Free Agent Brennan Wright, 11th round pick Tony Spidalieri, Alain Berger and Boone Jenner had the assists.
Emerson Clark scored a late goal from JP Labardo and Nick Esposto late in the game but it wasn’t enough to come back.
Bo Bessette made 28 saves in the loss while Justin Tugwell made 17 saves for Team White in the victory.
The Generals will have three more intersquad games tomorrow starting at 2:30 at the General Motors Centre. On Saturday the Generals will play the Annual Red vs. White game starting at 11am. Fans are encouraged to attend both days.
