Game Day: Brampton Battalion vs Oshawa Generals

Sep 30, 2012 - 08:55 GMT

The Generals wrap up their three in three weekend tonight as they take on the Brampton Battalion at 6:05 PM at the General Motors Centre.  Tonight’s game is sponsored by Chevrolet.  Chevrolet will be holding a Safe and Fun obstacle race during 1st intermission where representatives from minor hockey teams will compete and receive fifteen hockey helmets for participating.

The Generals and Battalion are facing off for the first of four match ups during the 2012-2013 regular season.  The two teams won’t face each other again until January and then twice in March.  Last season the Generals and the Battalion split the series 2-2.  This is a fresh season and the Generals are already off to a great start going 3-1 in their first four games.

Oshawa is coming off a 5-2 victory over the Bulls last night in Belleville.  The Generals scored first and never fell behind, playing a solid road game.  Daniel Altshuller made his fourth consecutive start and stopped 22 shots for the win.  Boone Jenner took the first star of the game and Lucas Lessio claimed the third.

The Battalion last played on Friday, September 28th when they defeated the Belleville Bulls 1-0, with Matej Machovsky getting his first shutout of the season and the first star of the game.  It was a low scoring, defensive battle with neither team tallying on the power play.  Patrik Machac scored late in the 1st period for the Battalion and their potent defense held on to the lead for two more periods.

The Generals player to watch tonight is Team Captain Boone Jenner.  The two-way centreman has been on a tear to start the season, coming into tonight's game with 5 goals and 9 points in just 4 games.  He was the key player in last night's victory over the Bulls, scoring the game winner and taking first star of the game.  He currently leads the Generals in goals and points.

Keep an eye on Battalion left winger Brandon Robinson.  The Pickering, Ontario native has had a hand in two of the Battalion's three goals this season and leads the team with two points from his pair of assists.  He earned the third star of the game when the Battalion took on the Niagara IceDogs on September 21st, when the IceDogs won in a shoot out.

The Generals are back next weekend on Friday, October 5th, when they take on the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:35 PM at the General Motors Centre.  Then they'll play the Belleville Bulls again on Monday, October 8th, at 2:05 PM.
